Cheers on a Draft
(By Luis Batista, Jan/2008, reposted on Jan/2011)
“We often seem to dream about people with whom in the past we had a repulsive, unforgettable argue. But at other times, we tend to dream with people we really appreciate, admire and value. And this was my case”.
__Amichi entered into a bar to watch a soccer match between his country, Portugal, versus France. Sitting beside a stranger to his right eating lunch and without realizing who he was Amichi chit-chat while having a beer draft. He offered this guest an Old Portuguese coin, but the fellow immediately refused it.
Alerted with a goal scored for his team by this player, the 2007/ 2nd best Balloon d’Or, Amichi avowed: If we had three Cristiano Ronaldos, Portugal would win an International soccer title. Suddenly this mystery person got up and without finishing his food replied: We won’t need three but one inspired Cristiano Ronaldo!
Amichi turned back to see him in person…amazingly…the 2007/ 3rd Best FIFA World Player of the Year was leaving the restaurant very sad. Then Amichi’s draft turned filthy greenish much like Asian moss, perhaps it was part of that same cheap French grass planted in a Portuguese soccer field, thought. And asking the bartender if he could change his draft, soon Amichi woke up from his soccer dream.
Amichi can’t stop thinking about it, hopping his dream will come through. And it would be a perfect “wish and dream come through” knowing that many Portuguese also keep their hopes high. His vision withdrew like an inspiration, for having watched playing this skillful and talented player. Cristiano Ronaldo is amazingly explosive. He combines those dribbling techniques with a speed so powerful, never viewed before by the world of soccer, I believe!
“Be known, Cristiano Ronaldo will be the next Best FIFA World Soccer Player of the Year”
__Yes indeed, later on December of the same year 2008, Cristiano Ronaldo has been declared No. 1 FIFA World Player of the Year and I believe he’ll be proclaimed twice more in the near future.
